"I started thinking about these china bombs a while ago after seeing Jan Vormann's work. Last week, summer restlessness kicked in and I thought it would be fun!"
Here's how it works: Juliet finds a loose bit of blacktop in an "interesting shape", brings it back to her studio and recreates that shape of out of a plate shard. She then fills the original crack or hole in the blacktop with the shard (aka: china bomb).
"I've only done 3 so far, in my neighborhood. I will be doing a few in more public places to make a contest out of finding them."
I wonder if the Department of Transportation would ever consider incorporating Juliet's project into their pothole response system...how cool would that be?

When I was little, my brother always laughed at me for stopping to look at the interesting cracks in the sidewalk. Now I have even more reason to stop and look more closely! Beautiful little spaces...keep up the good work!
I love how artists can incorporate ingenuity into our everyday lives!
LOVE!!!!
